Julie Bullock

Counselor, LCSW

Julie is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. In 2005, she graduated from NC State University with a degree in Psychology and then earned her Masters Degree in Social Work at East Carolina University. Julie spent the first fifteen years of her career working primarily with children, teens and families struggling with difficult adjustments, depression, anxiety, learning issues, family systems challenges and trauma. She values each person’s strengths and abilities to grow through difficult seasons.

In 2019, she felt called to deepen her knowledge of the use of Scripture and prayer in counseling. She pursued a Biblical Counseling Certificate through Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Her heart now overflows with the beauty of seeing lives changed with the combination of traditional psychology principles, plus the life-giving power of the Word. In 2022, she decided to ‘step out on faith’ and fully follow God’s calling to become a biblical counselor here at NarrowGate Counseling Services.

Julie’s primary clinical focus is working with adults and young adults who are seeking counseling to address issues related to: anxiety, stress, depression, grief/loss, phase of life adjustments, loneliness, hurts past and present. She believes it is critical in the healing process to fully know that you are not alone in this season of suffering—that there is hope.  Julie blends biblical truths with evidence-based treatments, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Family Systems and Attachment-focused theories. Her compassionate and warm therapeutic style encourages clients to open up while feeling safe and heard. Julie respects and values each client’s personal faith journey and understands that you may be anywhere on the spectrum of fully accepting God’s grace and mercy; don’t allow that to discourage you from seeking counseling.

Born and raised in North Carolina, Julie and her husband, James, currently call Clayton home. They are blessed with two wonderful daughters. She enjoys spending time with family, reading, learning to cross-stitch, and serving with her husband together in their local church. Julie is eager to work with you and share wisdom, hope and an opportunity at healing.
